Getting Started with Community Participation Support

Community participation support is one of the more flexible parts of the NDIS, and it can look different for almost everyone who uses it. For some, it means support attending a regular class or club. For others, it's about building the confidence to try something completely new.
A good starting point is thinking about what 'being out in the community' actually means to you โ is it about social connection, physical activity, learning a new skill, or simply having more independence getting around? There's no wrong answer, and your goals can evolve over time.
Many participants combine community participation with support to travel to activities, so getting there isn't a barrier in itself. Talking through your regular commitments and interests with your provider is usually the best way to start shaping this kind of support.
